Web plattform installer bug.

I'm about to set up a new development environment. Instead of using the windows own configuration tools I aimed to use the Web Plattform Installer Web PI.

• I have installed windows 2008 r2 and run all update ( I thought)
• Installed Visual Studio 2010
• Installed Web PI 3.0
• I choose to use Web PI to setup IIS7 Recommended setting, and it failed. After a some googling I found a help page for Web PI http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/604/troubleshooting-problems-with-microsoft-web-platform-installer-30/ From there I figured out that I should look at the installer log for operating system components "%windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log" from there I found the error..

I understand that something is missing, but I could not find an answer were to find the missing file. The trick to solve this problem were to install Windows 2008 R2 SP1 and a reboot.

Next step, install SP1 for Visual Studio.. it has halted on step 1 of 15.. Think I let it work while I'm asleep!
